FAQ

Some people have asked me questions about the blog and/or the project overall and I have decided to start this page to address questions I get asked!

So... here are some questions.

Why is the project called 'Twenty-Six Stories'?
I have 6 months to do the project, and there are 26 weeks in 6 months. That's an average of a book a week, but that is just a guideline, not a rule.

How did you make the header on your blog?
The header was made on Picnik, a photo editing website with the capability to add icons and text. It has really cool fonts and the butterfly icons are from there as well. I uploaded a plain white background to the site and added the butterflies and the text. Then, under the layout tab in Blogger, I clicked on the header module and changed it to picture, and unticked the box that says that you want the title in front. Then I changed the grey border that would be around the header because of the design I chose into white, so it looks seamless. And I had to try a couple of times to get the size of the header right, but eventually I got it.

How did you come up with the idea for the project?
I have been reading a lot of blogs and watching videos on YouTube that I have really enjoyed, and I became interested in how the internet is helping things such as books and literature in general to survive, because of the many ways people can now express their opinions about literature. When I was selected for PIP, the enrichment program that I am doing the project for, I wanted to do something that combined my love for writing, my love of reading and my appreciation for the value of the internet, and this seemed like the logical solution! My mum helped me come up with it too, so thanks Mum!

Why did you expand into YouTube?
As I mentioned above, I love watching vloggers on YouTube, and I really admire the way they are changing the world from in front of their computers. I know that through blogging I can reach out to the internet, but I think there is some appeal in actually seeing a person. Also, just because the project is about reading doesn't mean it has to be boring (I would argue that reading is barely ever boring!) and videos are a great way to break up the monotony some may perceive that is pages and pages of writing.

Book covers! Why these particular ones?
Well... mostly they are the covers of the copies I have. Except when I can't find an image (e.g. Wuthering Heights) then they are another randomly selected cover that doesn't look too weird. Most book covers are the British/Australian covers, seeing as I live in Australia!
